Gorge Walking, Gorge Scrambling, Canyoning South Wales, Cardiff, Swansea, Brecon Beacons Conditions Report 04th October 2021 -Rivers in South Wales area Cardiff, Swansea, Brecon Beacons are very high at the moment with continued rainfall very heavy in parts over the last few days. River levels reached up to 1.5 meters over the past 48 hours and now leveling at .8 meters. All canyoning events would be unsuitable due to the high river levels, parts of the gorge walking and gorge scrambling would be acceptable but with caution and knowledge of swift water. From Wednesday onwards the rain will stop and the rivers will drop to acceptable levels for all gorge and canyoning events. Due to the heavy rainfall and the previously dry river banks there may be an excess of debris in the rivers including trees, branches, rocks, bolders etc. River levels must be monitored constantly in order to assess the safety of the events and swift water hazards.
