Gorge Walking, Canyoning & Coasteering Activity Conditions

Gorge Walking, Gorge Scrambling & Canyoning Outdoor Activities

The sun has returned to South Wales this bank holiday weekend and with it it's bought some fantastic conditions for all of our outdoor activities, including Gorge Walking and Canyoning. The river levels have dropped a bit over the last few days as the rain has held off, so we'll be running our full programme of river based activities in the Brecon's across all three days.

With the river levels dropping, you do need to consider the depth of the plunge pools and asses each jump individually to ensure there is enough water in the pools for a safe landing, but there should still be some water in the ground which should mean the waterfalls will still be flowing constantly.

Just because the sun is shining on us here in South Wales, you still need to wear full safety equipment before going near the water, which includes helmet, buoyancy aids and wetsuits. The water remains a fairly constant temperature throughout the year, so although lovely and warm out of the water you'll quickly get cold once you enter if you are not properly prepared.

Coasteering Activities In Cardiff, Swansea & South Wales

We should see some great Coasteering conditions along the beautiful South Wales coast so we'll be looking to run our Coasteering activities in the usual locations, including Swansea and Porthcawl.

The wind is low, the swell is pretty small and the sun has come out to say 'Bore Da' (that's the Welsh for Good Morning) so conditions are almost ideal, with the tide being the only other consideration. High tide is early to mid morning so you'll want to be out early to make sure you're activity is running whilst the tide is coming in.

Surfing, Surf Kayaking, Beach Days and Paddle Boarding

Well, the weather in all of the usual spots along the South Wales coast is going to be glorious this weekend. However, there is virtually no swell to speak of so our advice is to find an activity other than surfing this weekend.

Of course, if you're just starting out on your surfing adventures, you may find this is the ideal time for practice with small swell, virtually no wind and a good bit of sunshine to enjoy too.

Cardiff, Swansea & South Wales Stag & Outdoor Activities

This weekend is possibly our busiest weekend in the whole year, with the nice weather, extra day and groups trying to get their trips and activities in before school starts up again. We're very lucky this year that the sun and wind have decided to join it too and give us some proper summer weather for the whole weekend.

We've got a full programme of activities running throughout the weekend, with Stag Dos and Hen Parties from Cardiff, Swansea and Porthcawl with us in the Brecon Beacons for some Gorge Walking and Canyoning. We've got a few birthday groups who'll be heading out to Caswell Bay in Swansea for some Coasteering  and we're also running Beach Days for a Scout Troop in Porthcawl.

Over the week we're also running another of our RLSS Training courses which teaches you basic water based activity safety and management skills as well as basic first aid and rescue techniques. It's a nationally recognised qualification that will allow you to carry out risk assessments for activities, at work of for youth clubs, Scout / Guides, etc.
